Comedian and actor Vir Das landed in controversy after a video edited from his recent performance in the US went viral on social media. Netizens slammed him for insulting India in the clip wherein he reportedly stated that he comes from ‘two Indias’, one where Indian men worship women during the day and another one where they gang-rape women at night.

The comedian has already issued a clarification on the same. Stating that one must not be fooled by the edited snippets.

However, social media remained divided over the issue. While some called the monologue “insulting” to India, others argued that Das only “spoke the truth”.
