NEW DELHI: Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia on Thursday invited Punjab education minister Pargat Singh to visit ten schools run by his government and then have a debate on which party is doing better on the education front – the AAP or the Congress.
Sisodia’s invitation came after a war of words raged between AAP leaders and the Congress minister on which state was doing better in education.
“I’d like to invite Hon. Education Min. of Punjab @PargatSOfficial to jointly visit 10 Delhi Govt schools which we have reformed in last 5 years and 10 Punjab govt schools which his Govt has reformed in 5 years. Then let’s have public debate on the edu models of Delhi and Punjab,” Sisodia said in a tweet.

The AAP, which is one of the main challengers to the Congress in the upcoming state polls, has been touting its education model as a great success. Punjab education minister Pargat Singh claimed that his government was doing quite well.

On Wednesday, Singh had told Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal that there was a revolution going in education in Punjab. “It is another matter that you missed it. It is understandable for a Delhiite whose interest in Punjab is aroused only around elections,” he had said.
Singh, in a series of tweets tried to show that Punjab, under Congress, was doing better than Delhi, under AAP.
“Punjab topped the country in school education in National Performance Grade Index (NPGI) in the most recent survey.Delhi came 6th.Punjab was above Delhi on all 5 parametres-learning outcomes,Access,Infrastructure & Facilities ,Equity and Governance in the survey,” he said in another tweet.

“Pupil to Teacher ratio in Punjab govt schools is 24.5:1 compared to 35:1 in Delhi.15% of Delhi govt schools have adverse pupil to teacher ratio compared to less than 4% in Punjab. Please fill up Delhi schools before worrying about Punjab.,” he said in another tweet.
Kejriwal, meanwhile, said that the Punjab education minister had claimed that the state’s schools were the best in the country. Those who are satisfied with Punjab schools should vote for Congress, while others who want the wonderful education like in Delhi, can vote for us, Kejriwal said on Thursday.

The tweet again evinced response from Pargat Singh.
Punjab being better than Delhi is not my personal opinion as you are insinuating but based on an official national survey, he said in a tweet addressed to the Delhi chief minister.

Punjab having a fair and transparent online transfer policy is a fact which can be confirmed by thousands of happy teachers in Punjab, the former India hickey captain claimed.
