The death toll due to Covid-19 rose to 4,67,468 with 488 people succumbing to the virus in the last 24 hours, the health ministry release stated.
Active cases have risen and now stand at 1,10,133. They now constitute less than 1% of total positive cases in India.
The daily rise in new coronavirus infections has been below 20,000 for 49 straight days and less than 50,000 daily new cases have been reported for 152 consecutive days now.
The recovery rate of the country is at 98.33% with 9,868 recoveries in the last 24 hours. Total recoveries now stand at 3,39,77,830.
A total of 63.71 crore tests have been conducted so far for the detection of Covid-19 in the country. While the daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.89%; less than 2% for last 53 days.
The weekly positivity rate is less than 1% for the last 12 days.
India’s Covid-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 2020, 70 lakh on October 11. It crossed 90 lakh on November 20 and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19.
India crossed the grim milestone of two crore on May 4 and three crore on June 23.
Cumulatively, 104.04 crore Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered under the nationwide vaccination drive so far.
